The Sports Information Assistant supports the Director of Athletic Communications in the day to day operations of William Peace University Athletics communications. Responsibilities include assisting with live statistics, game day operations, website maintenance, media relations, statistical reporting, and athletic communications coverage for the University’s NCAA Division III athletic programs. Additional responsibilities may include photography, social media, graphic design, and other creative content initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the secondary Sports Information contact for the William Peace Athletic Department.
Assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the day-to-day operations of the athletic communications department.
Assist with game day operations for home athletic events, including stat calling, live statistics input, public address, scoreboard operation, music, livestream support, and media coordination.
Maintain live statistics and statistical records for athletic events using NCAA-approved software and report statistics to the USA South Conference and NCAA.
Assist with maintaining and updating the Peace Athletics website, including schedules, rosters, statistics, stories, recaps, and game information.
Assist with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of livestreams, broadcasts, live stats, and other game day technology before, during, and after events.
Write game recaps, press releases, feature stories, and other athletic communications materials.
Assist in the distribution of game programs, game notes, stat packs, rosters, and other game day materials.
Create and maintain accurate records, archives, and historical information for athletic programs.
Assist with conference, regional, and national award nominations and related materials.
Coordinate with opposing sports information directors regarding game coverage, live stats, rosters, credentials, and game day logistics.
Provide information to and develop strong relationships with local, regional and national media as well as coaches and student-athletes.
Assist with the supervision, scheduling, and training of student workers and interns for game day operations and athletic communications coverage.
Travel with athletic teams to away contests as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications.
Represent the University, athletic department, and athletic communications office in a professional manner at all times.
Commit to and comply with all William Peace University, USA South Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications.
Other Athletic Communication Duties:
Coordinate scoreboard operations and other game day support functions as needed.
Assist with special events, media days, championships, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
Participate in local, regional, and national athletic communications organizations and professional development opportunities, including CSC (formerly CoSIDA).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, administrators, media members, and campus partners.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately maintain statistics, records, and game information.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team-oriented athletic department environment.
Knowledge of college athletics and NCAA game operations preferred.
Ability to learn and adapt to new technology, software platforms, and athletic communications workflows.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in game day and live event environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with athletic communications software and digital platforms preferred.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, English, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop game recaps, feature stories, and other athletic communications materials.
Strong time management and organizational skills, particularly during peak athletic seasons and high-volume event schedules.
Ability to perform stat calling and live statistics input using NCAA-approved software platforms such as NCAA Live Stats and PrestoSports.
Ability to maintain and update website content, statistics, schedules, rosters, and game information.
Creative experience in graphic design, photography, video editing, and/or social media content creation preferred.
Must be available to work nights and weekends.
Must represent the University in a professional and positive manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-5 years of previous athletic communications experience preferred.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
Experience with livestreaming, broadcast production, athletic social media management, or other digital media platforms.
Familiarity with NCAA Live Stats, PrestoSports, and/or StatCrew software.
