Builds a nationally and regionally recognized Blinn College volleyball program. Directs the program including: maintaining a successful program for the institution, recruiting, supervision of student athletes, coordinating and supervising practices, overseeing travel, budget and the overall daily operations of the program.
Job Duties:
Directs all aspects of the volleyball program, including but not limited to recruiting, on-field coaching, supervision of athletic assistants and student trainers, financial aid, scholarships, housing, and food service.
Develops a recruitment plan and actively recruits student athletes, which adhere to Blinn College and NJCAA Policies and Procedures.
Develops schedules and coordinates all team travel and similar responsibilities for out-of-town meets.
Travels and works a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of the program.
Provides help with academics to each player in the development of class schedules.
Establishes, maintains, and acts as a role model for an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of the players that are residing on campus.
Provides effective supervision of student athletes in the generic areas of practice, competition, travel and life management, throughout their entire experience at Blinn College.
Works cooperatively with the Director of Athletics, Marketing and Media Relations to establish and provide effective communication regarding the program.
Supports the philosophy and mission of the College. Provides direction and leadership to the program consistent with the values, policies, procedures and expectations of Blinn College leadership.
Applies ethical standards to work situations; makes work decisions in accordance with Blinn College’s values and goals; demonstrates respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and promotes a harassment-free environment.
Attends and actively participates in head coaches’ meetings and athletic departmental meetings and trainings.
Prepares yearly budgets for the program. Effectively manages the fiscal resources for the program, and stays within allotted budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of three years experience in coaching volleyball intercollegiate athletics.
Experience and expertise in coaching volleyball skills.
Experience in recruitment and team management of an intercollegiate athletic program or related Volleyball athletics.
Working knowledge and practical application of policies, procedures, rules and strategies related to intercollegiate volleyball or related volleyball athletics.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Some travel required.
Abilities to work evenings and weekends.
