The Sports Information Specialist supports the execution of the College’s athletic communications, media relations, and sports information functions in alignment with institutional branding, messaging, and communication standards, while ensuring compliance with College policies and all applicable Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC), National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) regulations. This position assists in promoting and documenting athletic programs while contributing to game-day operations, content creation, and statistical reporting. The Sports Information Specialist contributes to the effective delivery and continuous improvement of sports information services, enhancing the visibility, engagement, and reputation of the College’s athletic programs while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with institutional, WJCAC, NJCAA, and NIRA requirements. Essential Functions Operational Support and Coordination •Assists in the coordination and execution of sports information and media relations activities. •Supports the implementation of policies, procedures, and operational standards for athletic communications in alignment with institutional guidelines. •Assists with daily operations of the sports information office.
Communications and Content Development •Assists in developing, editing, and producing athletic stories, press releases, and multimedia content consistent with institutional branding standards. •Maintains and updates athletic website content and supports social media platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging communication. •Supports efforts to promote athletic programs and student-athlete achievements across multiple communication channels.
Game Operations and Event Support •Assists with sports information operations at home athletic events, including statistics, scoreboard operations, and live streaming. •Supports media coordination and game-day communications logistics. •Assists with photography, video production, and live stream execution to ensure quality and consistency.
Records and Statistics Management •Assists in maintaining accurate athletic records and statistics. •Supports the collection and submission of WJCAC, NJCAA, and NIRA reports and statistical data. •Helps ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of sports information data.
Equipment and Resource Maintenance •Assists in maintaining sports information equipment, facilities, and technology resources. •Ensures readiness and proper functionality of equipment used for events, communications, and media production
Additional Responsibilities ?Serves on institutional committees as assigned. ?Maintains professional knowledge of trends in athletic communications and sports information. ?Adheres to institutional, state, and federal policies. ?Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in sports information, athletic communications, or related field.
Experience with digital media, web management, and live streaming technologies.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel and work evenings and weekend as required for athletic events.
