Howard Payne University, Sport Information, Fan Engagement, Game Operations Graduate Assistants
The Howard Payne Athletic Communications office is accepting applications for a graduate assistant for the 2025-26 and may be extended to a second year (one to two-year appointment). The graduate assistant will assist with marketing and fan engagement efforts for the University’s 14 intercollegiate varsity sports. Located in Brownwood, Texas, Howard Payne is a member of NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference.
Responsibilities: - Oversee the creation and execution of in-game entertainment plans for all home games, including scripts, music, promotions, fan interaction elements, and sponsor activations.
- Assist with creating engaging creative content for use on social media channels and athletics website.
- Implement a comprehensive content calendar across social platforms to ensure timely coverage of athletic events, features, and campaigns.
- Develop and implement marketing and fan experience plans for various sports, as assigned.
- Serve as primary media contact for assigned sports.
- Organize and record game statistics at athletic events and provide timely reporting of results to media outlets & ASC.
- Aid with the video streaming of home athletic events.
- Assist with facility setup and teardown pre- and post-game.
- Assist with maintenance of videoboards, sound systems, gameday technologies.
- Utilize video replay systems at home venues as needed.
- Organize, promote, and manage special events at Howard Payne home games as assigned by the athletic administrative staff.
- Assist in the management of student and game staff workers.
- Adhere to all NCAA and American Southwest Conference rules and regulations.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, physical education, kinesiology, sport management or related fields.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Admission to a Howard Payne graduate program. HPU offers graduate programs in Sport and Wellness Leadership (M.Ed.), Business Administration (MBA), http://www.hputx.edu/academics/graduate-studies/
- Proposed Start Dates: January 12, 2026 or July 1, 2026.
