Job Description:
Primary Purpose: Every game and every moment is an expression of Arizona State University and Sun Devil Athletics. We are connecting communities and fans through a shared community of sport. We are Sun Devils supporting Sun Devils, and we are looking for team members who understand that sports are more than a game.
As part of Sun Devil Athletics' Game Experience team, the Game Experience Coordinator is responsible for crafting unforgettable game day environments for our men's basketball and baseball teams. These environments keep fans on their feet, attract new audiences, and create memories that last long after the final play. This role blends creative vision with operational precision, overseeing every entertainment element of a home game from start to finish.
From pre-game hype to the final whistle, you'll drive fan engagement by developing innovative promotions, overseeing in-game presentation elements, collaborating with entertainment talent, and ensuring every aspect of the game experience is seamless, exciting, and on-brand.
This role would also be expected to assist with other game day operations, Sun Devil Athletics events and creative development across other sports as assigned and needed. This person will be expected to work collaboratively with our Creative team, Athletics Operations and Facilities, Corporate Sponsorships, the Sun Devil Marching Band, the Spirit Squad and other SDA departments as needed. The ideal candidate is collaborative, creative, detail-oriented and results-driven. They will report to the Assistant Director of Game Experience and Marketing. Adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the university, and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Position Salary: $50,000
Essential Duties:
Game Day Entertainment & Presentation • Develop, plan, and execute the full game experience, including pre-game activations, in-game entertainment, and post-game events • Collaborates with the Corporate Partnerships, Ticket Operations, Digital Media, and Media Relations to ensure all contractual responsibilities are fulfilled on game day and to ensure smooth execution of all events. • Oversee all in-arena content such as video board features, crowd prompts, music, and lighting to maintain an energetic and cohesive atmosphere. • Direct live game scripts and cue sheets to ensure smooth transitions between play, entertainment, and promotions. • Oversee and coordinate with talent (PA announcers, DJs, mascots, dance teams, performers) to deliver an engaging and polished show.
Fan Engagement & Promotions • Create innovative in-game promotions and theme nights that resonate with core fans and attract new audiences. • Collaborate with marketing to integrate promotions into broader ticketing and community outreach campaigns. • Monitor fan feedback and engagement metrics to refine experiences and maximize attendance impact. • Work against a set budget.
Operational Management • Lead and oversee game day staff, including promo teams and interns. • Oversee logistics for all game presentation elements, including equipment, staging, and promotional inventory. • Ensure compliance with league guidelines, sponsorship requirements, and brand standards. • Lead media day planning for assigned sports, ensuring that all marketing, social media and game presentation-related content is captured. • Adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the university, and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications: • Experience working in sports: Collegiate, minor or professional environment • Experience with decision-making and conflict resolution • Experience working in stressful situations • Experience in working collaboratively across a matrixed organization • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics rules and regulations and University policies and procedures. • Knowledge of NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules and regulations. • Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to the assigned area. • Evidence of problem-solving and decision-making skills. • Ability to plan, analyze and coordinate activities and establish priorities. • Knowledge of budget preparation and planning • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication. • Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution's sustainability programs
Working Environment: • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%) • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions
