The overall purpose of this position is to serve as the spokesperson for the Department of Athletics, both verbal and written, and serve as the primary liaison between the department and various publics, including media, alumni, digital followers, student-athletes, fans, corporate partners and sponsors, community at-large, and the University community. This position uses every means available to distribute news, information, statistics, publications, etc., with an emphasis on reporting on all activities within the Department of Athletics. Serve as primary media contact for TTU Athletics. Assemble and communicate information in a positive manner to media outlets and several publics. Creatively write stories, releases, and publications in order to gain maximum exposure and media coverage for athletic events, including community service events. Maintain, design, and create written, graphic and video content and updates for ttusports.com website. Design and produce publications and other media such as ticket applications, posters, flyers, pocket schedules, media guides, record books, etc. Shoot, coordinate and maintain photography and images for current and historical uses. Manage and coordinate sports information staff. Provide coverage for home and away athletic events including travel with designated teams. Compile and maintain statistics for recordkeeping and compliance. Coordinate radio broadcasts. Host press conferences, media and other constituents at events. Coordinate and direct annual Golden Wings Awards night.
