LaGrange College seeks applicants and nominations for the position of Vice President for Athletics. LaGrange College is a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college located in LaGrange, Georgia. Founded in 1831 LaGrange College is the oldest private college in Georgia. The College is an NCAA Division III athletics program that offers 16 varsity sports programs (seven men’s teams and nine women’s teams) with approximately 390 student-athletes. Two additional sports (men’s and women’s cross country and track) will begin in the 2025-26 academic year. LaGrange College is a member of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and is an affiliate member of the USA South Conference. The member institutions of the CCS are located in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky.
Responsibilities
The Vice President for Athletics is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the intercollegiate athletics program, including ensuring the quality and integrity of the intercollegiate sports programs, resource management, and revenue acquisition. The Vice President for Athletics reports to the College President and works closely with Vice Presidents for Enrollment and Student Experience, Finance and Administration, Advancement, and Academic Affairs. The Vice President for Athletics will also work with other constituents to develop and implement goals for intercollegiate athletics in alignment with the College’s strategic vision.
About LaGrange Athletics
The mission of the LaGrange Department of Athletics is to provide students opportunities to achieve educational and personal fulfillment, life skills, character development and campus pride through athletic participation. The university competes at the NCAA DIII level as a member of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and offers the following intercollegiate sports: baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, women’s flag football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s beach volleyball, and women's volleyball. As part of the athletic experience, students can also participate in cheerleading. The sports of men’s and women’s cross country and track will begin in the 2025-26 academic year.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree or other post-graduate degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience as athletics administrator in college athletics or similar setting, with a coaching background preferred.
- Demonstrated success in revenue generating and outreach activities; a proven record as a successful friend, fan, and fundraiser.
- Demonstrated experience in vision setting, strategic planning and long-term goal setting for the athletics program.
- Ability to balance short-term objectives and long-term institutional vision.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and fiscally responsible approach to budgeting.
- Demonstrated management experience, including recruiting, selecting, and evaluating head and assistant coaches.
- Proven record of outstanding leadership, including demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and ability to learn and implement Conference rules.
- Understanding of Title IX regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with College administrators, faculty and external constituents.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with and supervising coaches is preferred.
- Intermediate level computer skills using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft TEAMS.
- Experience in sports marketing and brand management is preferred.
Licenses/ Certifications: Current and valid driver’s license required. Certification in CPR, First Aid and/or AED may be required.
