K-State Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for a SENIOR LEARNING SPECIALIST, which is a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position.
An example of job duties includes but are not limited to:
Provide intensive academic support to an assigned group of student-athletes. This includes one-on-one tutoring and skill building, evaluating, and monitoring academic plans for students, assisting students in developing self-advocacy skills and self-awareness, providing appropriate referrals to the Student Access Center. Responsible for training tutors and academic mentors as it relates to study skills implementation and educational impacting disorders, including Supervised Study Program. Provide leadership and assistance with the Specialized Learning & Tutorial program. Assist in development of appropriate study strategies/individualized learning strategies. Act as the liaison to Student Access Center; coordinate mandated SAC services for specified student-athletes, including clarifying and instructing use of needed support services and accommodations; and development of appropriate study strategies/individualized learning strategies. Worksite Description This position is On-site.
All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in special education, educational psychology, academic advising, college student development, curriculum/instruction, or closely related field
Two years working full-time as a learning specialist or in a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of diagnostic placement testing/learning assessments and interpretation of disability documentation
Knowledge of NCAA rules, and experience working with NCAA student-athletes with documented learning disabilities
Experience working in secondary or post-secondary education as a teacher or paraprofessional
Supervisory experience of student or postgraduate intern staff

Excellent written and oral communication skills, and computer proficiency
Excellent organizational skills
Some evening and weekend hours required
