The University of Tulsa is seeking highly qualified candidates for a 10-month graduate assistant position in the Office of Athletic Communications for the 2025-26 academic year. The University of Tulsa sponsors 17 varsity sports and is a member of the American Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division I (FBS) level.
The anticipated start date is August 2025. The 10-month position includes a monthly stipend and graduate school tuition is covered. The position is a two-year appointment, renewable after the first year at the discretion of the athletic department.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES: • Serves as the primary communications and media contact for multiple programs. • Assists with media operations for football, basketball, softball, and the daily operations of the Athletic Communications Office • Ensure accurate and up-to-date information — including bios, rosters, schedules, statistics, previews and recaps — is published via TulsaHurricane.com and sport-specific social media platforms. • Help manage media relations logistics associated with selected athletic events. • Compilation and computer inputting of statistics • Maintain statistical records, provide real-time data entry during live events and archive digital and physical records for historical reference by producing, writing and editing team record books • Facilitate social media for responsible sports consistent with department goals by collaborating with the TU content team •Develop and execute multi-faceted promotional strategies for Tulsa athletic programs and/or individuals. • Performs other duties as assigned/needed
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree; previous media relations or sports information experience at the college or professional level; excellent communication and writing skills; social media skills; proficiency in desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop); working knowledge of Genius Sports and/or StatCrew statistical software packages; volleyball and softball computer stats inputting skills preferred but not required. The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and a schedule that includes weekends.
SALARY: $15,000 (10-month position) Graduate School tuition is covered.
