Bowling Green State University is seeking an intern in the Athletics Strategic Communications Department, overseeing the media relations and communications efforts for select sports as determined by the Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications.
Job Description Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the production of record books, game notes, programs, and news releases for select athletic programs. The successful candidate will also maintain files and statistics related to the respective sports and work with BGSU’s content creation team on social media and other digital initiatives. A background or familiarity in graphic design is also desired.
Along with working daily with select programs, the intern will assist at home athletic events and will be required to be available for all home football games (except when conflicts occur with their primary sport responsibilities). Evening and weekend work is required and some travel may also be necessary. The successful candidate will be expected to complete other duties as assigned.
Position Terms: •Start Date: ASAP •Compensation: $1,560 per month (12 Month Position, with the potential for a second year). This position does not include employee benefits. •In addition to regular office hours, the qualified candidate must be available to work various BGSU’s home athletic contests. A bachelor’s degree in communications, sports management or a related field is preferred; experience in StatCrew and Genius LiveStats; experience with InDesign and Photoshop; experience with SideArm websites or similar content management system; experience using social media; experience working with collegiate coaching staffs preferred; proven ability to write press releases. Knowledge of ice hockey is a plus.
