Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. The graduate assistant will work in conjunction with AUM’s athletic department and will assist full-time employees with publicity efforts for the University’s 12 sponsored athletic programs. Start date is flexible, but preferably by August 11, 2025.
AUM is a proud member of NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference, and sponsors 12 sports. The university has won 25 national championships, made 120 regional tournament appearances and claimed 109 conference titles in its 50-year history. Since moving to NCAA status in 2019, they have made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and captured five GSC crowns.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will consist of assisting in all aspects of the athletics communications department including, but not limited to the following:
- Serve as a media contact for select sports
- Generate press releases, event recaps, feature stories and related content
- Produce digital game programs, online record books, etc.
- Maintain team information and content on websites and physical archives
- Develop, monitor and maintain consistent social media presence for assigned sports
- Assist with video content creation and production of in-arena video board
- Assist with the production of home event video broadcasts on FloCollege
- Assist with photography of home events and special events of the athletic department
- Coordinate student-athlete, coaches and staff birthday graphics on social media
- Report statistical information to the NCAA and GSC
- Occasional travel
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Acceptance to a master’s degree at AUM
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Stat Crew/NCAA Live Stats
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Valid driver’s license
- Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining CPR/AED, First Aid and NCAA DII Coaches certifications
Compensation:
- Tuition and fees for up to 18 in-state graduate credits per academic year (does not include additional fees)
- GA Verification support for out-of-state graduate students covering the difference of in-state vs. out-of-state tuition and fees
- Student worker wages for gameday hours worked beyond 20 hours per week in GA role
