Overview: Wagner College, an NCAA Division I member of the Northeast Conference (NEC), is accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations position. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operations of the Wagner Media Relations staff in the management of rosters, schedules, statistics, and stories for all 28 Wagner Athletics programs, and will lead in the creation of media content while serving in a supervisory capacity.
Night, holiday, and weekend work will be required.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for Wagner’s media relations department and primary media contact for the Seahawks’ football and men’s basketball teams, while overseeing all digital strategy, graphic design, creative video, and media relations efforts
Manage all content for wagnerathletics.com and Wagner’s social media channels.
Oversee statistics operations for all 28 varsity sports as necessary
Respond to all parking and credential requests by administrators for road basketball and football contests
Write and produce press releases, game notes and game releases, feature stories and social media content
Edit and maintain all record books
Oversee staff comprised of full-time employees and graduate assistants for a Division I Media Relations Department
Recruit, train and manage media relations team to achieve goals and objectives.
Work in compliance with Wagner College, NEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Advise and facilitate media strategies including crisis management
Coordinate student-athlete nominations for Wagner College, NEC, NCAA, regional and national awards
Coordinate and organize all department creative needs, producing high-quality content by assigned deadlines
Foster relationships with local and national media outlets
Travel with teams as necessary to serve as the media relations liaison, create social media content, and confirm parking and credentialing needs
Organize and direct photo and video shoots for all 28 Wagner varsity sports
Help with recruiting operations by organizing and executing photo and video shoots, design graphics and videos, and create presentations for prospective student-athletes
Oversee video production and supervise graduate assistant in charge of streaming all Wagner home events on NECFrontRow
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required. Master’s degree preferred.
Three to five years of experience in college athletics / media relations required
Prior leadership experience preferred
