The Assistant Director, Athletic Development and External Affairs, under general direction reporting to the Director of Athletics, assists Development Officers and Institutional Advancement in securing philanthropic support for athletics. Participates in fundraising activities pertaining to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual major donors and prospects with an emphasis in Athletics. Effectively utilizes communications and relationship building strategies for meeting the various athletics fundraising needs of the institution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with coaches and staff to identify priority fundraising needs to be presented to Director of Athletics for approval.
Under direction from Director of Athletics and AVP-Finance and Administration, incumbent must be able to develop and format templates to cover specific events, sponsorships, and fan club/booster/supporter organizations, ensuring compliance with TAMUS, TAMIU, NCAA, and Lone Star Conference rules for such agreements and organizations.
Serves as a liaison in coordination with the Director of Athletics, with the Dustdevil Club, Dustdevil Club Advisory Board, Dustdevil Club committees, and with other programs that encourage athletic event participation.
Assists with developing a comprehensive athletic public relations and fundraising program.
Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift prospects in collaboration with Development Director/Officer(s) and senior advancement team.
Position requires frequent development of contracts, memorandum, and agreements related to athletic developments efforts to support the department.
Aggressively pursues major gifts fundraising and ensures appropriate recognition.
Builds, maintains, and strengthens positive relationships with individuals within and external to the University community.
Manage all available media advertising for radio, print and TV advertising. Oversees athletic publications, promotional, and media materials as related to fundraising.
Manages Digital marketing budget.
Develops athletic activities that will enhance the overall development of the department.
Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates effective special events including but not limited to, summer camps, sports clinics, and the athletics banquet.

Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
Experience – Six years of related experience.
