The University of Utah is now accepting applications in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for the position of Director of Social Media & Digital Strategy. Utah is a NCAA Division I school and a member of the Pac-12 Conference. The Director of Social Media & Digital Strategy will work as part of the digital & creative media team to develop and execute a strategic, creative vision for Utah Athletics social media channels. This position will oversee the execution and distribution plan across various platforms, mediums and audiences with an emphasis on building the Utah Athletics brand and profile in the social media space. It will provide expertise and creative insight on the most effective social media marketing ideas, emerging trends and program concepts. Teamwork, communication and creative thinking will be critical skills for this position. This position will foster a team atmosphere across creative units (sport programs, communication staff, digital & creative media, marketing, ticketing, Utes Sports Properties & revenue-generation team) in which collaboration, ingenuity, new ideas and reasonable risk-taking are prioritized. This position will serve as the Utah Athletics primary contact for all main athletics social media channels and help operate all accounts including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and other platforms. This position will creatively tell the stories of teams’ student-athletes, coaches and staff through various channels, and continuously evaluate and enhance content. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, related field or equivalency; three years relevant experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required.

Expertise with local media markets and knowledge of statewide, regional and national media preferred. Five years experience as a public relations practitioner or related field may be preferred.
