Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Development, the Development Associate assists with development operations and key functional areas including but not limited to sponsors and partners; NJCAA Foundation; grants; giving campaigns; development events; donor research and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assist with executing and fulfilling contracts with sponsors and partners.

Research grant opportunities and assist wit the submission process.

Assist with communication to NJCAA Foundation Board of Directors.

Record minutes for all NJCAA Foundation Board of Directors and committee meetings.

Assist with the execution of the NJCAA Foundation Awards Dinner and other foundation or development events.

Assist with developing fundraising campaigns, including Giving Tuesday and others as designated by the Annual Giving Committee and staff.

Support and evaluate results of campaigns with Director of Development and Vice President for External Affairs and Development.

Monitor giving in Network for Good and provide timely stewardship to donors.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.

Assist in scheduling meetings with prospective funders and donors.

Develop a prospective alumni donor base.

Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's degree required, a focus on business, communications or marketing preferred.

Previous professional experience in the development or fundraising field with responsibility for a combination of duties involving press releases, newsletters, publications, copy editing, email communications and website management preferred.

Demonstrated customer service, organization, leadership, planning, and conflict management.

A good command of Microsoft Office, fundraising software and current social media platforms preferred.

The ability to establish and maintain collaborative, effective working relationships with team members, member colleges, athletic directors, student-athletes and the public.

Problem solving skills, judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information.

The ability to write effectively and efficiently.

The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team.

Must be efficient and organized with a high level of attention to detail.
