Summary: Assist the Athletic Director in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties pertaining to the administration of the Maryville College Athletics Department. Specific duties include but are not limited to oversight of the Student-Athlete Experience and Leadership Development programming while assisting the student-athletes as they transition into the college environment while ensuring their multifaceted development needs are addressed and met. Day to day work includes serving as a liaison between student-athletes and internal and external departments; overseeing personal development initiatives; and chair the internal diversity, equity, and inclusion programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Create a “campus visit” experience for all athletic recruits so they have similar experiences on campus. (5%) •Support department’s efforts with admissions and academic to increase retention. (20%) •Provides and coordinates education and training for student-athletes, staff, and coaches around DEI topics while developing programs that ensure diverse and inclusive role models and mentors for the athletic department. (10%) •Develops, implements, and evaluates programs to assist student-athletes transition into the college environment. (10%) •Liaison to college departments and external departments to ensure student-athlete needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics, mental health, identity, leadership development, careers services, crisis response, and other personal/social problems. (10%) •Provides preventative educational programs and crisis management; work with internal staff and campus partners to coordinate programs geared at educating student-athletes about at-risk behavior and ways to manage or prevent at-risk activities; serve as point of contact for crisis management issues including drug and alcohol, violence, child support/parenting issues, Campus Life conduct issues etc. (20%) •Assist with student success initiatives, including but not limited to serving on related committees; providing following up to concerning student behavior; liaison with Academic Support Center and academic support services for student-athletes; and advising Student Athlete Advisory Committee. (10%) •Coordinate Athletics assessment efforts to align with College, Student Affairs, and departmental strategic and annual goals. Assist with development of departmental strategic and annual goals. (2%) •Acts as Athletics representative to the weekly campus case management meeting and student success team Serve as the department’s Title IX coordinator. (2%) •Liaison as the Conference Athletics Diversity Inclusion Designee (2%) •Primary sport supervisor for assigned teams. (5%) •Some travel is required (both local and extended). (2%) •Perform other duties as assigned. (2%)

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In the absence of the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education and/or Experience:                               
Bachelor's degree required – Master’s preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in collegiate athletics administration required. Demonstrated understanding of Division III compliance requirements, contract administration, strategic planning, and assessment. Demonstrated experience with staff supervision.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 
A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required, or ability to obtain one within 30 days.  Must be current in American Red Cross CPR with AED and First Aid and Safety training.
