POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the President & CEO of the NSU Foundation and in coordination with the Director of Athletics at Northern State University, the Director of Athletic Development & Revenue Generation (Dir. of Athl. Dev.) is responsible for the development and implementation of fund-raising programs and revenue opportunities to promote financial support to the University, in support of the athletic programs and special projects.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES: •The Dir. of Athl. Dev. reports directly to the President & CEO of the NSU Foundation and works with the Director of Athletics and NSUF Sr. VP to develop an overall fund development plan to meet the annual financial goals of the athletic department and special projects within the NSU Foundation.
•The Dir. of Athl. Dev. is responsible for the coordination of annual fund raising activities to provide for the general unrestricted support to the athletic programs.
•The Dir. of Athl. Dev. coordinates all the fund raising activities of the athletic department and the Wolves Club, with those of the NSU Foundation and the University.
•The Dir. of Athl. Dev. serves as the Wolves Club Committee liaison to the NSU Foundation Board of Directors and the University.
•Working with the development staff of the NSU Foundation, the Dir. of Athl. Dev. is responsible for coordinating programs and services to enhance relations with athletic alumni.
Responsibilities and Challenges Fund Raising – (Shared 85%) •Serving as the primary Athletic Development fundraiser in the NSU Foundation, the Dir. of Athl. Dev. works with the NSU Foundation staff, athletics staff, volunteers and the community by direct involvement and by leading staff and volunteers. •Providing key leadership to maintain and increase the renewable base of annual support for the athletic programs and Foundation base. •Developing strategies, in conjunction with the NSU Foundation and NSU Athletic staff, for increasing the number of donors to athletic programs each year. •Designing, implementing, managing and evaluating annual athletic fund drives and activities.
Revenue Generation – (Shared 85%) •Designing and implementing Revenue Generating programs including: Marketing & Sales of Athletic Partnerships, Programs, Events & Special Projects Payment-In-Kind, Trade and non-cash programs Miscellaneous Sponsorships and ‘Other’ revenue opportunities •Assisting with special events sponsored by Athletics, the Wolves Club and Foundation •Supervision and Oversight of all Athletic fund raising activities, including Team Championship Accounts •Coordinating communication and marketing for fund raising campaigns and special events •Representing NSU at public events and speaking opportunities •Serving as liaison between Athletics, NSU Foundation & the University
General – 15% •Providing support to the NSU Wolves Club Committee, including long range planning and direction for the Board’s fund development programs •Coordinating and overseeing all Wolves Club activities including: Managing annual membership drives Assisting the athletic director with the development of the annual budget Managing promotional activities and events •Budgets within Athletic Development and the Wolves Club Committee
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree Exceptional communication skills and ability to cultivate alumni and prospective donors Fund raising experience or equivalent experience garnering support from the private sector Fundamental knowledge of athletic operations and basic needs of collegiate athletic programs
