The Associate Athletics Director for Championship Performance is responsible for enhancing the overall performance of Columbia student-athletes and varsity sports programs. This position directs all mental preparation and oversees mental health, leadership, sports nutrition, and analytics within the department. The position is responsible for assessing the psychological skills of performance improvement for student-athletes and varsity sports programs, designing resources and programming to support performance improvement needs of student-athletes and varsity sports programs, and for conducting individual, group, and team performance meetings and counseling sessions with student-athletes. The Associate Athletics Director for Championship Performance serves as a resource for coaches, student-athletes, and staff. The Associate Athletics Director for Championship Performance will contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department, University Health Services, and University community. The Associate Athletics Director for Championship Performance shall exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Council of Ivy League Presidents, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations. Responsibilities -Conduct individual, group, and team meetings with student-athletes related to the improvement of athletic and personal performance. -Design resources and programming for varsity sports programs and student-athletes to support performance improvement objectives. -Assess the psychological skills of performance improvement for student-athletes and varsity sports programs. (i.e. anxiety control, visualization, concentration, goal setting). -Supervise, manage, and assess the effectiveness of Columbia Athletics Championship Performance programming with oversight of two full-time officer of administration -Supervisory responsibilities include the following: *Accomplishes department objectives by managing staff planning and evaluating department activities. *Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. *Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. *Coaches and counsels employees. *Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. *Establishes strategic goals for the team. -Function as a resource for student-athletes by providing counseling sessions in order to maximize student-athlete health, safety, and well-being. Additionally, serve as a resource for coaches and staff. -Alongside the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Success Through Well-Being, direct, develop, and deliver Success Through Well-Being programming, resources, and initiatives. -Develop and manage operating budget. -Oversee, manage, and analyze data from student-athlete surveys, as well as coordinate and manage data collection for department. -Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Bachelors Degree required.
Minimum of four to six years’ related experience required.

Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and the general public.

A master’s degree and/or doctoral degree in a mental health related field preferred
Certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) preferred
Strong analytic focus and ability to utilize data collection and analysis software preferred
Successful experience in athletics administration, NCAA Division I level preferred
