The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for managing all aspects of a National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Men’s Soccer program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to coaching, scheduling, recruiting, promoting the program, supervising student athletes’ academic performance, assisting with fund raising, public relations for sport and athletic department.
Assure compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association rules and regulations and Coastal Bend College policies/procedures as related to the sports program.
Assist in conducting sport related businesses with Head Soccer Coach associated with established NJCAA requirements including maintaining correspondence, submitting required paperwork including games and individual statistics, scheduling games, and making travel arrangements.
Maintain professional and ethical standards at all events.
Train and coach the players of the Soccer program.
Assists develop a recruitment plan to recruit student athletes for CBC Soccer program and recruit CBC players to participate in four-year universities.
Equipment must be maintained, or inventoried and wash uniforms as needed.
Assure the student athletes are attending tutorials or study hall as prescribed and monitor compliance regarding academic standing for participation in the NJCAA.
Participate in Coastal Bend College events and athletic fundraisers or events to ensure program visibility and their involvement with a successful program.
Serve as ambassador of goodwill for the college and the athletic program.
Report violations to the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).
Will participate in Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
Will participate in College responsibilities such as Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc.
Must transport the baseball team as a driver for games, practices and recruitment; conduct a thorough pre-trip/post-trip, exercise the effective defensive driving skills of self-control, alertness, foresight, check passengers’ seatbelts and good judgement at all times while operating the inspection of the passenger vehicle. Must have and maintain good driving record and provide a copy of the valid Texas Driver’s License to the Business Office.
Minimum qualifications: Minimum of three (3) years of active coaching at either the high school, club/select, or collegiate or professional level. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experiences with NJCAA, NCAA, NAIA rules compliance regulations. Candidate will be expected to work as a team member in Athletics, serve as a role model for students and maintain an appropriate professional relationship with students. Bachelor's Degree required.
