Samford University Athletics is searching for a Graduate Assistant for broadcasting and digital media. The Broadcasting/Digital Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcast/Digital, and will be responsible for assisting the broadcast department in all aspects of live production, coaches shows, and player features, while helping to effectively tell the story of Samford Athletics through digital media.
Samford Athletics produces over 100 live ESPN broadcasts each year, including every home game for women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball, as well as select men’s and women’s tennis matches. The department also regularly produces over 60 in-studio shows, featuring Samford coaches and student-athletes.
In addition to broadcast responsibilities, the Broadcasting/Digital Graduate Assistant will be asked to assist with creative video, photography, and social media.
1. Serve as a key component of all live productions, with roles including camera operation, replay, graphics, audio, producing, and directing
2. Assist in set-up, teardown, and troubleshooting of all home athletic events
3. Produce, shoot, and edit studio shows featuring Samford coaches and student-athletes
4. Contribute to Samford’s digital presence - creative video, photography, social - when needed.
5. Work as a team player amongst the Samford Athletics external staff.

Acceptance into one of Samford's nationally accredited master's degree programs.
1-2 years of experience in a fast-paced, live production atmosphere.
High-level experience with camera operation
Knowledge and experience with all or most of the following production equipment: Ross Carbonite, Ross Xpression, Envivo Replay, Newtek Tricaster, Newtek 3Play, AJT Livebook, Telex comms systems
Strong familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro
Basic familiarity with broadcast engineering: SDI cable, XLR cable, audio mixers, fiber optic connections, audio and video routing, comms systems, troubleshooting, etc.
Ability to perform manual labor: Moving heavy equipment from venue to venue, long cable runs, etc.
Basic experience shooting and editing creative video, as well as photography, is encouraged
Knowledge and understanding of all current social media platforms and trends is strongly preferred
On-air and on-camera experience is helpful, but not required
Ability to think creatively and on-the-fly
Hardworking team player with a good attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to learn
Additional Salary Information: GA position includes 18 hours of tuition remission per year. The candidate may also clock additional paid hours during each week.
