The Assistant AD – Athletics Communications position will lead the strategic vision for Army West Point athletic communications into the future. We will strive to find a candidate who is passionate about this opportunity at the United States Military Academy to work with a unique group of cadet-athletes, coaches and staff to tell the Black Knights story. This role will serve as the athletic department’s strategic planner for all internal and external communication, messaging and storytelling for the athletic department’s 30 sports, while serving as primary media contact for the nationally recognized football program and head coach.
This role must have the ability to lead the athletics communications team – facilitating ideation, production and execution, while working in concert with other external units within the athletic department.
This position must have a proven track record of working with internal constituents and University partners. They will oversee coordination of all media requests (internal and external), including the “pitching” of stories to local, regional and national media. Additionally, this position is a key member of the external relations staff, providing counsel to staff members on all aspects of the department.

Bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role required.
The individual should be an experienced and outstanding internal & external communicator who has worked within and led a high functioning team of content creators.
Demonstration of leadership under pressure and in complex environments.
Experience in communications role required, including managing media and team relationships at a high level.
The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
