Belmont University is currently accepting applications for the position of Coordinator of Facilities and Event Operations. Under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities, this position is responsible for managing all aspects of Belmont’s use of athletic facilities at the E.S. Rose Park Sports Complex, to include facility scheduling, maintenance, and event operations and management. Responsibilities include:
•Serves as the on-site manager of the indoor batting/hitting facility, overseeing daily operations that include: scheduling and coordinating usage by Belmont intercollegiate athletic teams and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS); greeting clients, providing access to the building, reviewing policies and protocols, and securing the facility at the end of each event/usage; and, performing general management duties for the office areas (e.g., ordering supplies, coordinating key/card access, scheduling service repairs for computer/internet/office equipment, distributing mail, etc.)
•Assists in managing the submission of Belmont requests to Metro Parks for usage of the baseball, softball, soccer, and track and field facilities at E.S. Rose Park for Belmont intercollegiate athletic teams and security coverage for practices, competitions, and special events.
•Oversees maintenance of all facilities and equipment at the E.S. Rose Park Sports Complex to include regular evaluation/assessment; notification to Facility Management Services (FMS) or appropriate outside vendor of needed repairs and renovations; coordination of janitorial and landscape services; inventory management; and, research and recommendation of equipment purchases.
•Performs game-day operations/event management duties for assigned Belmont athletic events at the E.S. Rose Park Sports Complex to include: equipment and facility set-up and break-down; scheduling game staff; training student workers; coordinating and communicating game-day logistics and protocols to officials, coaches, and game staff; etc.
•Collaborates with the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and lead Belmont Campus Security officer assigned to E.S. Rose Park to develop, implement, and evaluate usage and safety protocols for the complex.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years’ experience in the field of facility/athletic event management or 4 + years’ progressively responsible athletic/recreational facility and event management experience with discretionary decision making. High degree of self-motivation and organizational skills with the ability to exercise independent judgement, discretion, and initiative while performing duties. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to improve processes and efficiencies. Thrives in an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and hard work. Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining a calm, professional, and courteous attitude in stressful situations. Skilled in problem solving and resolving conflict. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Professional oral and written communication skills. Ability to plan, organize, and execute events. Ability to manage student personnel, specifically graduate assistants, interns, and student workers. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with skills in preparing and maintaining spreadsheets and other written reports. Ability to lift and move equipment. Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
