SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR STUDENT-ATHLETE ACADEMIC SERVICES AND ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

•Southern Methodist University is seeking an energetic and innovative Senior Director/Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services to lead the creation of a newly formed department of Student-Athlete Academic Services. •Reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Student Academic Engagement and Success, this position will set the strategy for all student athlete academic services, manage staff and budget, and serve as a valuable partner and resource for University leadership and administration in Athletics. •This position is responsible for the following: oLeading and managing the operations of Academic Services for Student-Athletes oDeveloping, managing, enhancing and implementing academic advising practices, policies and procedures to support student-athlete success within the guidelines of the NCAA and University oServing as a liaison to the Associate Athletic Director overseeing academics oCollaboration with academic advising colleagues in a cooperative and productive manner to achieve University Advising Center goals and objectives •This position must uphold a commitment to integrity and a strong work ethic. Additionally, the successful candidate must display excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, strong time management skills, and a sharp attention to detail.

Minimum Education Required: Master’s Degree
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated success in several areas, including, managing and leading a professional staff, experience managing organizational budgets and finances, and knowledge of counseling and student development theory. A minimum of five years of professional work experience is required in positions of increasing responsibility, including experience in an educational setting advising student-athletes at an NCAA Division I level institution.
