This position is responsible for the certification of the academic eligibility of all continuing student-athletes who represent the institution in intercollegiate athletic competition. The position requires specialization and expertise in all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). In addition, this position leads the data collection, validation, and submission of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The APR and GSR is submitted annually; failure to meet submission deadlines renders an institution ineligible to compete in any NCAA sponsored championship or postseason event. This position serves as the lead contact during NCAA data reviews. This position also serves as UTK's athletics academic certifying officer in the absence of the Associate Registrar for Educational Planning. In addition, this position, under the direction of the Associate Registrar for Educational Planning leads and provides direction in daily operations for the educational planning function of the Office of the University Registrar.?
Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree; • Three or more years working in higher education.? Preferred Education and Experience: • Three or more years working in academic advising and/or athletics compliance.? Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • High level of competency and skills relating to Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word; • Ability to work with high degree of accuracy; • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills; • Strong oral and written communication skills; • Ability to prioritize projects; • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion; • Ability to interpret complex policies and regulations.? Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Knowledge and ability to navigate NCAA/SEC academic rules and regulations; • Knowledge of the UTK undergraduate curriculum; • Ability to organize and analyze information using University and third-party reporting tools; • Ability to organize and perform oral presentations to diverse audiences.
