The Director for Compliance is responsible for the overall quality and comprehensive nature of the Compliance Office for the South Carolina State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Coordinates, implements, facilitates, oversees, and evaluates all facets of the Compliance Office to ensure compliance with NCAA and MEAC rules and regulations concerning, but not limited to, eligibility certification, recruiting, financial aid, practice and competition, amateurism, and permissible benefits and awards.
Reviews compliance documents to ensure accuracy. Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure continuous eligibility and manages APR for all sports. Implements, monitors, assesses, and evaluates a comprehensive rules education program for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, athletic staff, institutional personnel, boosters, alumni, and other constituents of athletics. Maintains complete and accurate records of all compliance matters in electronic and hard copy forms. Reviews and revises the compliance manual annually. Provides interpretive answers to questions from coaches, student-athletes, prospects, staff, and alumni regarding the application of NCAA, MEAC and University rules. Annually reviews position descriptions and evaluates compliance staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor degree is required, Masters preferred, in athletics administration, business, or a related field. A minimum of three years experience in NCAA Division I compliance services within an institution or conference setting is required. Analytical and data coordination skills and knowledge of NCAA rules is required. Experience with the interpretation of NCAA and MEAC regulations. Experience with compliance software programs is required.
