The Coordinator of New Media position is a two-year, 10-month internship appointment and reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Promotions and Community Relations. The intern will work alongside the Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director to create and implement a new media plan for the department that aligns with and promotes the mission, goals, values and educational ideals of Brandeis University, as well as the mission of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation. The intern is responsible for providing equal support to the entire athletic department by producing content and assisting with general marketing and sports information tasks.
This is a two-year NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant appointment. The hired employee must identify as an ethnic minority and/or a woman. Essential & Other Functions
Develop and implement the department’s new media strategy and plan. This position will be responsible for managing the department website content (brandeisjudges.com) related to video and photographic content, audio/video streaming, social networking and web-based features on student-athletes and coaches.
Assist with Event Coverage by working alongside the Sports Information Director and Assistant AD for Marketing to perform sports information, multimedia or promotional related tasks at regular season and postseason home competition for all 19 Brandeis Varsity events, as well as club sport, intramurals, and fitness activities as needed.
Collaborate with Campus Partners by attending campus communicators meetings to align athletics’ marketing and social media plans with the University’s overall external engagement strategy.
Actively Assist with Alumni Engagement Strategies by working with the Friends of Brandeis Athletics, Alumni Association, and Institutional Advancement to produce storytelling articles and videos for fundraising or general engagement purposes to strengthen the visibility of Brandeis Athletics.
Supervise Department Student Interns by managing specific communications, marketing and/or multimedia duties in the office and at athletic events
Participate in Department-wide Events by attending staff meetings and assisting with other duties as assigned.
1-3 years of total work-related experience
Minimum of 1 year of related intern experience
Basic video editing, social media skills, and graphic design skills. Experience using a video camera and DSLR camera
Valid driver’s license
Must be qualified to be insured by Brandeis University
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends throughout the school year
