The Graduate Assistant of Campus Recreation is a member of the Upper Iowa University Athletic Department and reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Campus Recreation. This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations regarding leadership, management, administration/oversight of all programs and activities of the campus recreation department and the university recreation center.
Responsibilities include: • Propose, plan, coordinate, run and evaluate intramural programs. • Schedule facilities for the Intramural Program with close interaction and cooperation with community recreational leaders. • Familiarize and Implement risk management practices on all intramural programs, following UIU protocol for accidents and incidents that may occur. • Maintain and update the policies and procedures in the intramural handbook and other related documents. • Maintain and inventory intramural, recreation center, and outdoor pursuits equipment. • Communicate programming of the Recreation Center via university calendar, website, and social media outlets. • Continuously evaluate the intramural program and make recommendations for improvement. • Assist with other aspects of the Recreation Center, and Intramurals as needed. • Prepare an intramural event schedule to include a variety of sports that cater to our diverse student body. • Provide recreational programming in conjunction with homecoming, family weekend, and special events. • Work collaboratively with other campus departments and other schools to promote intramural based programs. • Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75; if transfer student, a minimum graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0. • Admittance to a graduate school degree program at UIU. • Registration for the minimum number of required credits for an assistantships held during the term (the minimum number of required hours is three hours per term). • Acceptance letter into a graduate program. • Strong communication skills. • Basic computer skills, including MS Office. • Nights and weekends availability. • Ability to obtain Class D Chauffer license (Iowa, U.S.)
