Job Description: • Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics at the middle school and high school levels. • Recruit, select, assign, orient, develop and evaluate all coaching personnel. • Maintain high standards of conduct and professionalism within the athletic program. • Represent the School District in matters of interscholastic athletics with the Wolverine Conference and MHSAA. • Responsible for the organization and scheduling of athletic events. • Contract officials for all home contests. • Arrange transportation for away contests. • Assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home events. • Develops and continues to evaluate appropriate rules and regulations governing conduct at athletic activities. • Fosters good school-parent relations by maintaining communications relative to rules and regulations on athletics. • Establishes and enforces the physical, academic and training requirements of eligibility for participation. • Organize and direct yearly and/or seasonal coaches’ meetings of the coaching staff to review rules, procedures and other essential information. • Prepare and administer the athletic program budget and requisition program supplies and equipment. • Develop and maintain a Coaches’ Manual and guidelines. • The above listing of primary responsibilities is not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Minimum Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration, Education Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university; or enrollment in such a program leading to a Master’s Degree within two years • A minimum of three years of head coaching experience at the high school varsity level or above • Experience managing budgets • Experience with the selection, supervision, and evaluation of personnel • Heart Saver CPR and AED Certification Preferences: • Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate • Successful athletic and/or school administrative experience • NIAAA certification as a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) • MHSAA Coaches Advancement Program (CAP) Level 1 and Level 2 certifications • Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations
