Lamar Community College (LCC), a comprehensive public community college in Southeast Colorado, is seeking an energetic, highly organized, dynamic professional to join our team. The Head Volleyball Coach/Athletic Event Assistant is a full time position that will engage a student-centered approach to recruiting, training and coaching the Women’s Volleyball team members. The position will also oversee the Women’s Volleyball program with budgeting, planning, organizing tournaments, and promoting all LCC athletic programs. Successful candidates will also assist the Athletic Director with communication of LCC athletic programs. As an LCC coach, this position must support the mission and purpose of LCC athletics, and have a sincere desire to assist in developing young women as athletes, students, and people of good character.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate sportsmanship while serving as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach
Recruit student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA, Region IX and LCC rules and regulations including official and unofficial recruiting visits and admissions procedures
Design and instruct deliberate team practice sessions, including individual training sessions that allow for skill development and assessment of every student-athlete
Lead students in regular review of practice and game play videos to develop strategies for improving game play and team cohesion
Implement activities and exercises that promote community and foster team cohesion
Oversee the hiring, supervising, evaluating, and corrective action for one part time program assistant
Plan and direct special events involving the team including instruction clinics, tournaments and community service programs
Coordinate travel arrangements for the team including bus transport, hotel accommodations and expense tracking/reporting according to LCC, Colorado Community College and State of Colorado purchasing guidelines
Coordinate video operations, statistics, computer and technical support required for the volleyball program
Track and manage team budget including fund raising efforts to promote the volleyball team
Assist LCC Athletic Director in social media efforts to promote selected priorities of the athletic department across the campus
Comply with all requirements of FERPA, Title IX, Clery, policies of the institution, the Colorado Community College System, and all local, state and federal laws while performing the required duties of the position

Two years’ coaching experience
One year’s experience playing volleyball at the collegiate level
Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with internal and external individuals
Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed
Strong writing and editing skills
Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Publisher
Must hold or be able to acquire a Colorado commercial driver’s license (Class C with Passenger Endorsement)
Experience with managing and monitoring expenditures
