The University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for an Athletics Business Manager. Under the general direction of the Athletics Director, the Business Manager directs and provides administrative oversight for the financial and budgetary operations of the athletics department. Duties and Responsibilities: *Reporting to the Director of Athletics, assumes administrative responsibility for the financial and budgetary operations of the Athletics Department in accordance with the Athletics Department and University policies. *Providing appropriate updates to senior administrative staff regarding athletics budget and long-term financial planning. *Provide financial and administrative support to the Director of Athletics, Athletics Department staff, including the preparation and submission of requested periodic reports to include, but not limited to, summarizations of the financial status and recommendations as appropriate. *Provide advice to the Director of Athletics on matters related to finances and prepare appropriate management reports for financial and business analyses. *Supervise and lead the preparation of the annual budget for the Athletics Department. *Prepare the annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act report (EADA). *Prepare the annual NCAA Financial report. *Serves as the primary custodian for Department of Athletics contracts, agreements and memorandum of understanding (MOU). *Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of support staff within the Athletics Business Office unit. *Provide oversight of the financial operations of the Athletics Ticket Office. *Assist with the assurance that all assigned activities are operated in compliance with NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference and University rules and regulations. Report any and all violations, or suspected violations to the Director of Athletics or appropriate staff. *With the Director of Athletics, assist in the development of long-range financial plans for the Department of Athletics. *Coordinate the preparation of the Athletics Department financial statements and reports. *Ensure the preparation of federal, state and local tax documents as appropriate. *Maintains positive working relationships within the Department of Athletics, University and the community. *Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Knowledge and experience with: *Development of long range financial and strategic planning. *Audit processes. *Provide financial oversight of day-to-day operations of a moderate to large-sized business unit. *Knowledge of and appropriate application of financial records. *Ability to create, plan and implement new work procedures and systems to accomplish objectives. *Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude in stressful situations. *Ability to work effectively and provide financial guidance and oversight with coaches, administration and support staff within a highly competitive and dynamic NCAA Division environment. *A progressive approach to the achievement of gender equity and Title IX compliance in athletics.
Minimum Qualifications: *Bachelor’s Degree. *At Least 3 years of experience in progressively responsible management/supervisory experience within an organization's financial unit. *General computer skills, organization, and patience. *Ability to handle pressure involved with very fast-paced and ever-changing office setting *Accounting; working knowledge of fiscal reporting as it relates to the university.
Preferred Qualification * Working knowledge of SAP and Banner within the UT System. * Experience with Division I athletics
