Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletic Equipment Services, the Athletic Equipment Attendant II has the primary responsibility for day-to-day coordination of all logistical activities related to all assigned sports teams. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning, maintaining and distributing laundry for all Olympic sports, Athletic Equipment Services (AES) shipping and receiving, and delivering mail and packages throughout the athletic department. This position is responsible for assisting in the enforcement of NCAA, university, conference, and State policies and procedures as they relate to the athletic equipment facility. This position must work closely with staff to resolve problems and/or issues arising in the day-to-day operations of the department.
High school diploma. One year of experience which would provide adequate training for supervising the equipment and supply services in a college athletic program.
Valid California driver’s license within 10 days of hire. AEMA certified or certifiable within eleven months of hire. Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Bachelor’s degree and one or more years of experience at an NCAA school or professional sports organization performing duties as an athletics equipment room attendant. Knowledge of and/or experience with inventory tracking software such as Front Rush (or similar). Must have initiative, good judgment, and the ability to efficiently perform duties and responsibilities with a minimum level of supervision. The Athletic Equipment Attendant is expected to exercise professional, courteous behavior, good judgment, and good customer service when interacting with student-athletes, staff, coaches, visitors, and coworkers.
The incumbent is required to have the physical ability to lift materials and supplies weighing up to 70 pounds per package (boxes, bags, etc.). Experience with Microsoft Office, emphasis in Excel.
Additional Salary Information: This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, temporary position with an estimated appointment end date of December 31, 2020, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
