Southwestern University invites applications for an Associate Director of Athletics – Senior Women’s Administrator*. This position provides administrative assistance to the Director of Athletics in terms of all aspects of the Athletic Department administration. The Associate Director of Athletics also coordinates and oversees all activities associated with the athletic facilities; teaches in and serves as chair of the Exercise and Sports Studies (ESS) program, as well as serve as the Coordinator of the Fitness, Recreation, & Activity (FRA) program. The role of the Senior Women’s Administrator, as described by the NCAA, is to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of college sports. *NOTE: Although this position is being advertised to include the Senior Women’s Administrator role, it is important to note that this designation may be reassigned at the discretion of the Athletic Director.
Primary Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Director of Athletics with the administration of the Athletic Department including the preparation of reports and budget, personnel oversight, sport team assignments, alumni relations, oversight of institutional sport camps, awards, and departmental planning.
Serve as the Senior Women’s Administrator for the Athletic Department.
Serve as the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities & Events with regard to event scheduling, event contracts, coordination of building proctors, maintenance of athletic facilities, etc.
Oversee the Equipment and Facilities Managers with regard to maintaining facility equipment, ordering supplies, management of laundry facilities, etc.
Oversee the Athletic Communications staff and serve as the athletics’ liaison to the Department of Integrated Marketing and Communications.
Oversee game-day administrative matters and logistics.
Assist with NCAA, SCAC, and ASC compliance.
Serve on University and ad hoc committees as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably from a Liberal Arts Institution
Understanding of and commitment to a liberal arts education, including the ability to relate to a liberal arts faculty.
Availability and willingness to consistently attend work and maintain a regular work schedule. Also, enthusiastically and frequently work evenings, partial weekends, and campus visit programs, as needed for success. These busy times may occur several months per year.
Ability and willingness to travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of transportation.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage time, activity and spending while staying focused on accomplishments of objectives.
Ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities and produce a reliable work product, even in stressful situations.
Possess outstanding presentation, communication and interaction skills (verbal and written).
Ability to lift boxes of at least 25 lbs.
A valid driver’s license.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Sports Management, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Five or more years of athletic administration experience, including three or more years of experience in management-level positions.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to learn institutionally specific computer software such as 25 Live, Datatel, etc.
