St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting applications for the position of Director of Athletics & Recreation. Reporting directly to the Provost & Dean of Faculty, the Director of Athletics & Recreation is responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure success in the Athletics and Recreation program. The College competes within the NCAA at the Division III level, and within the Capital Athletic Conference (through Spring 2021), and within the North Eastern Athletic Conference (beginning Fall 2021). The Director manages programs that are responsive to the campus community athletic and recreational needs.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience: Five years of experience in athletics administration of intercollegiate programs; proven track record of successful and significant fundraising; demonstrated commitment to strong and equitable student success; history of sound financial management; evidence of positive student-athlete recruitment practices; successful experiences supervising, coordinating, and evaluating athletic department personnel, coaches, and support staff.
Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
Collaborative and inclusive leadership.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to travel required.
