Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Director of Athletics

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, along with President Dr. Katherine Conway-Turner, the Athletic Director is responsible for providing leadership to the intercollegiate athletics program at Buffalo State College, including the overall administration of personnel, program and student athlete learning outcome assessment, planning and budgeting for the athletics department and executing institutional, conference and NCAA policies. Responsible for coordinating, with the College Foundation and the Athletics Bengal Booster Club, the fundraising and marketing effort of the athletics programs and the sports complex facilities of the College. Participates in public relations activities as required to promote the College and its athletic programs. Facilitates the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and works with the office of Residence Life, and other campus partners, to implement conferences, summer sports camps, athletics-related events, and community events involving facilities. Ensures that sports complex facilities are fully utilized by students, faculty and staff for intramural and recreational purposes. Serves as ex-officio on the College's Intercollegiate Athletics Board as well as the President’s delegate to the NCAA.
Masters Degree in Athletic Administration or related field.
Progressively more responsible leadership and supervisory experience.
Familiarity with NCAA and Division III athletics.
Collegiate coaching experience.
Strong interpersonal,verbal and written communication skills.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of athletics issues as they relate to administration of college athletics programs.
Ability to guide the development of teams, coaches and student-athletes.
Ability to develop long range strategic plans for the·athletics program and athletic facilities.
Ability to raise funds through the marketing of athletic facilities and programs.
Experience developing and implementing multi faceted assessment plan in athletics or related area.
Experience working at a diverse institution of higher education.
Leadership experience at the conference or national level.
Commitment to men’s and women’s athletics program.
Detailed knowledge of NCAA, SUNYAC, ECAC and other conference policies governing the conduct of Division III athletics.
