Initiate or participate in projects as requested by the AD
Relationships: Position requires extensive interaction with campus, donors, alumni and friends of the University utilizing a variety of communication methods through direct face-to-face contact, meetings, and other events for the purpose of building and stabilizing relationships and providing sustainability throughout all internal efforts of the athletic department.
Responsibility for Final Decisions: Tasks involve interpretation of data and/or procedures to address problems or situations that are not clearly defined. Work involves non-routine/diverse work not defined by procedures. Errors may cause serious delays in work and decision-making, having important effects on organizational regulations or external relationships
Reports To: Athletics Director. Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure, or request for exception is required.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills are essential for interaction with colleagues, coaches, donors, trustees, students, alumni, parents and friends of Furman University.
Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budget management, cash management, and fund accounting practices.
A minimum of 5 years in a related or comparable field, preferably in collegiate athletics.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
Self-confidence, strong organizational skills, and effective time management skills are essential.
Ability to effectively represent the University and to work effectively in a team environment with a mix of alumni and colleagues.
At least 5 years of managerial experience and proven leadership in the world of college athletics. Working knowledge and exposure to the best practices of college athletics.
True leadership ability as well as imagination, innovation and creativity.
A keen ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with President, Trustees, AD and VP of Finance and leadership team.
Confidence in delivering presentations to small and large groups.
Must be willing to work as a leader of an energetic team
Must adhere to the stated principles of Finance at Furman and acquire an appreciation for Furman University history and aspirations as one of the nation's leading liberal arts institutions.
Commitment to customer service and high touch interaction with Furman University constituents.
Experience with Workday preferred.
Must maintain attention to detail.
Work is performed under usual office and travel conditions.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. Work on nights, weekends, evenings and early mornings are required, based on travel and event schedules.
