Lawrence Technological University is an NAIA Institution located in Southfield, Mich., “The Center of it All,” seeking an Assistant Sports Information Director to assist the Director of Sports Information with its coverage of its 30-team athletic department that now includes Football, Track and Field, Baseball, and Softball. The position will be a part-time position. The Blue Devils are a member of the 12-team Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), play in the American Collegiate Hockey Conference (ACHA), and the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA).
Lawrence Tech is located 15 minutes northwest of Downtown Detroit and is one of the many suburbs of Metropolitan Detroit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate will assist the Director of Sports Information and current graduate assistants in all areas of sports information for the University’s 30 athletic teams. Must be available to work selected nights and weekends.
Keep statistics for assigned sports, must have knowledge of stating volleyball, lacrosse, hockey, football, basketball, soccer, and baseball/softball.
Work as main contact for assigned sports. You will be responsible for but not limited to maintaining statistics, game previews, game recaps, gameday programs, social media, and any other jobs related to your assigned sport.
Maintain the athletic website (www.ltuathletics.com) for your assigned sports with updated scores, stories, and recent recruit information. Familiarity with Prestosports a plus, but not necessary.
Travel with teams when schedule allows for you to travel.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.S. or B.A. with emphasis in communication, journalism; 2 to 4 years of related experience. CPR/AED/First Aid certified or ability to get certified within 2 months. Must have knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as NAIA rules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to type and use word processor (MS Word preferred), e-mail, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn other programs pertinent to the position. Must be organized, and be able to prioritize work, good communication skills, both written and oral, ability to deal with people from various age groups, backgrounds, and level of education.

Communication skills (both oral and written), organizational skills, and the ability to handle changing priorities are essential for success in this position. This position will require working some evenings and weekends.
