Executive, Executive - Associate Athletics Director
Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services (Student Services Manager I) in the Office of the Provost.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: leading and managing a high performing team that serves as student-athlete academic advisor/counselor for all assigned student-athletes; maintaining regular contact with student-athletes while they remain on team rosters; providing student-athletes with information on CCU and NCAA progress reports; developing academic improvement plans for students performing below academic standards; making referrals for supplemental instruction, counseling, and career services; reporting progress to coaches; evaluating transfer transcripts with the Office of Admissions; providing mentoring for at-risk student-athletes; identifying incoming and continuing students; developing time management, study skills, academic goals to include tutors, advisors, and academic lab staff; monitoring progress towards degree requirements; managing data through NCAA Compliance Assistant Internet; reporting and projecting NCAA academic performance program and team scores; coordinating NCAA continuing eligibility certification with CCU Registrar; developing reports and meeting with coaches regarding team and individual academic performance and developing academic improvement plans as needed; updating files; performing tasks that may involve athletics compliance issues and complying with the applicable rules, regulations and academic policies of the University, the NCAA, the Sun Belt Conference and other organizations or conferences of which the University is a member; seeking written approval from the President or his designee for all athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the University; serving as liaison between students and appropriate academic departments, colleges, and administrative offices to help student-athletes meet their academic and career goals; updating administrators, coaches, student-athletes regarding CCU and NCAA changes in policies/by-laws; and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Master's degree and at least three (3) years related experience are required. A diverse understanding of issues that affect NCAA Division I student-athletes and experience working with student-athlete academic/student support services preferred. A successful candidate will possess knowledge of NCAA progress toward degree requirements; NCAA Compliance Assistant software internet program; NCAA Academic Performance Program; and graduate success rate and APR calculations. Additionally, a successful candidate should also possess the ability to communicate orally and in writing; the ability to exercise good judgment; and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
