Assistant Athletic Director for Development The University of Texas at El Paso
Purpose of Position: Directs, coordinates, and implements all fundraising initiatives and carries a major gift portfolio for The University of Texas at El Paso’s (UTEP) Department of Athletics.
Essential Functions: •Conceptualizes, plans, and implements a development and fundraising program that will result in the generation of private support including individual and corporate major gifts and annual fund contributions for the initiatives of the Department of Athletics. •Develops detailed gift opportunities plan tailored towards the interest of potential major donors, consistent with established needs and priorities of the intercollegiate Athletics Department. •Carries a major gift portfolio of 100 donors while making an assigned number of personal visits and work toward defined goals of asks and dollars raised. •Oversee the implementation of prospect cultivation and solicitation for programs and priorities of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. •Oversees organization and planning of Miner Athletic Club donor fundraising and stewardship events. •Manages a staff of four development professionals charged with raising private funds to support the Department of Athletics. •Attends athletic contests and donor events, including work on nights and weekends. •Works across campus with the Office of Alumni Relations and be the primary liaison with the Office of Asset Management and Development. •Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems, including Raiser’s Edge and Archtics Ticketing software. •Complies with all State and University policies. •Other duties may be assigned. •Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws. Applicant will oversee four full time professionals.
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree. Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques for a Division I Athletic Department. Thorough knowledge of the NCAA rules, guidelines, and principles as they influence university fundraising. Five years minimum experience working in collegiate athletics or fundraising in higher education. Ability to use a relational donor database system. Master’s Degree in an applicable area preferred.
