• Provide instruction to student-athletes in the areas assigned. • Recruit, retain, and advise competitive students for each sport. • Monitor the progress of each team member including class attendance, academic performance, and personal development. • Work closely with staff to develop and coordinate team schedules. • Organize and execute daily practice plans for each team. • Organize and oversee off season programs for conditioning and weight training. • Recommend scholarship awards to the athletic director for each sport. • Work with all JSCC, NJCAA, and TBR rules and guidelines as pertains to athletics. • Perform normal maintenance on the softball field as would be required for daily use. • Help in creating a positive community perception of Jackson State and the athletic department. • Assist in promoting a healthy and welcoming environment for students and visitors. • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Student Activities. • Serve on college committees as assigned. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Supervise part-time assistant(s) or work study (if available).
Bachelor’s degree and prior coaching and playing experience required. Master’s degree preferred.

About Jackson State Community College
Established in 1967, Jackson State (JSCC) was the first community college in West Tennessee and remains the only publicly funded college in Jackson. The college provides accessible learning opportunities and services to a diverse student population and community. Serving a 14-county area, in addition to its main campus in Jackson, the school has full-service centers located in Humboldt, Lexington, and Savannah. In partnership with the Tennessee Technology Centers, the college offers classes in Brownsville, Paris, McKenzie, and Whiteville. Video and online classes also are available. With nearly 4,400 students, Jackson State has the largest enrollment of any college in Jackson. JSCC offers associate degrees, certificates, and enrichment courses as preparation for further higher education and career entry or advancement.
