Houghton College has two administrative graduate assistantships available beginning August 4. One position is in sports information and the other is a general administrative position with primary responsibilities in event management.
These are two-year, 10-month (August to May) assistantships that require admission to Houghton's Master's in Business Administration program.
Sports Information Assistantship: This position assists with the promotion and publicity for Houghton's 18 varsity programs. Serves as primary contact for select sports, provides statistical coverage for home events, assists with web site management, social media content, photography and video production, as well as feature writing.
Event Management Assistantship: This position assists the AD and Associate AD for Internal Operations in the scheduling and coverage of events held in college facilities. Assist with creating and updating game contracts, maintaining and updating team travel schedules, coordinating facility upkeep needs, and keeping community informed on facility hours and usage.
Admission to Houghton's MBA program is required.
Both positions require excellent organization, time management and independent thinking skills. Ability to work effectively and professionally with others is important. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is strongly desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is needed. Christian faith commitment is required.
For the sports information assistantship, a degree in communications, journalism or sports management is a plus, as is knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Suite) and statistical software (Genius, StatCrew, Presto).
Additional Salary Information: In addition to $5,000 yearly stipend, position includes free on-campus housing and a 20% discount on Houghton MBA tuition.
