Clark University’s Department of Athletics seeks to fill the position of Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation. Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will assist with all aspects of the Intercollegiate and Recreational Programs at Clark University. Clark University is a NCAA Division III institution that participates in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
The Associate Director will serve as a key decision maker and integral member of the Athletic Department’s senior leadership team and will be responsible for direct staff supervision, NCAA compliance, game management, facility rentals, and scheduling.
Supervision of department operations includes, but is not limited to, sports information, intramurals and club sports, facilities, and the Clark Tournament. Additionally, the Associate Director will serve as liaison to various departments on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
•Manage the department in the absence of the Director of Athletics and Recreation. •Manage and supervise the Department of Athletics and Recreation internal operations. •Assist the Director in all phases of departmental operations: oversee event and game management; program and department scheduling; supervise recreation operations (intramurals & club sports operations), facility operations, and sports information. •Direct supervision of assigned staff and sports. •Directly manage the day-to-day operations of the athletic department which includes all intercollegiate and recreational activities; coordinate facility rentals. •Work closely with the Director of Athletics and Recreation to develop and implement department policies and guidelines. •Oversee and manage NCAA and NEWMAC compliance; effectively communicate conference legislation, policies, and procedures to all direct reports and oversee implementation of such policies and procedures; ensures that the Department of Athletics remains in full compliance with NCAA, the University, NEWMAC rules.
•Develop policies and procedures relative to student-athletes access, health, and welfare, in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. •Perform administrator on duty responsibilities at athletic events. •Represent the athletic department at conference, regional, national, and university meetings as requested by the director. •Serve as the Director for Clark High School Basketball Tournament. Additional duties: •Serve as liaison with ITS. •Serve on the Hall of Fame Committee and assist with the Hall of Fame event. •Assist with the annual Awards Program. •Coordinate athletic alumni events. •Additional duties as assigned.

•Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. •3-5 years’ experience in athletic administration in a collegiate environment, required. •Must be very knowledgeable in NCAA compliance; maintain an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations and compliance. •Must be able to communicate and enforce university and NCAA policies and procedures. •Must have strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of student information systems software, Front Rush, and other software programs. •Must have strong with written and oral communication skills. •Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient; able to manage multiple tasks. •Must be committed to student athlete academic success and welfare. •A valid driver’s license is required. •CPR, AED and First Aid certifications, required •Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus; ability to work with diverse populations.
