Upper Iowa University (UIU) Athletics is committed to meeting the comprehensive needs of its student-athletes. The Student-Athlete Success Post -Graduate Intern will work directly with the Associate AD for Student-Athlete Services and, at times, assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. This is a 10-month long paid internship funded through the NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant. The objective of the internship is to provide entry-level experience and professional development to a woman and/or ethnic minority interested in a career in intercollegiate athletic administration. The Student-Athlete Success Intern will work directly with the student-athletes to aid in their academic success and their personal and professional development. Through monitoring and evaluation, research, interaction with the student-athletes and collaboration with faculty, staff, and coaches, the intern will help advance the academic success and leadership development of the Upper Iowa student-athletes. The individual hired will have access to professional development opportunities offered by Upper Iowa University, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NSIC), the NCAA, Women Leaders in College Sports (if applicable) and Minority Opportunities Athletic association (MOAA). In addition, the Student-Athlete Success Intern will be mentored by the Associate AD for External Affairs and the NSIC Commissioner. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in athletic administration, develop professionally and build a network of contacts across intercollegiate athletics in order to make one’s next step a career in athletic administration.
