The Athletic Director will lead a varsity athletic program with 18 sports for men and women. The Athletic Director is responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of athletic programs; supervision of coaching and athletic support staff, managing fiscal resources of the department, coordinating recruitment and program promotion, ensuring compliance with NCAA, North Atlantic Conference, and campus policies, supervising the operation and maintenance of the athletic facilities, and providing leadership for capital planning and improvements.
Plan, administer and implement goals, policies and procedures;
Supervise coaches and support staff; hire, train, and evaluate, including game officials;
Prepare and monitor annual budget;
Plan, direct and oversee scheduling for games, events, travel, equip. purchases and maintenance; maintain quality, safe facilities;
Represent and promote athletic department: recruit prospective students, participate in fundraising;
Plan, implement and support departmental programs;
Keep current on development in higher education athletics, specifically Division III;
Represent NEC at off-campus association meetings and events (NCAA, ECAC, North Atlantic Conference);
Maintain the quality and integrity of athletic programs;
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Phys. Ed, Sports Admin or related field, Masters degree preferred;
5-7 years of relevant teaching, coaching and admin. experience at the college level;
Combination of comparable knowledge and skills;
Experience with the operations of an intercollegiate sports program;
Experience with NCAA Division III philosophy;
Flexible hours including evenings and weekends; some off-campus travel;
Excellent planning, organizational and verbal/written reporting/communication skills;
Ability to interact/communicate with various internal/external associates including: students, athletes, staff, parents, professional colleagues.
