This position reports directly to the Executive Director – LSSU Foundation & Alumni Relations and is responsible to raise friends and funds for University projects, events and programs.
The Annual Fund and Athletic Development Director provides support for a comprehensive program to raise annual support for unrestricted and restricted gifts to the LSSU Foundation as well as annual membership dues for the LSSU Alumni Association. This position will work closely with the Foundation staff and Director of Alumni Operations & Engagement.
This position will support the planning, coordination, implementation and management of the annual giving program, including alumni membership dues, with an emphasis on both increasing annual gift income and the number of participants supporting the Fund for LSSU and Laker Club. Duties include assisting with planning, designing and executing solicitations from all University constituencies for annual campaigns and special events.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Assist in developing an annual giving strategic and operations plan including specific fundraising goals and timeline to support the Fund for LSSU, Laker Club and Alumni Association Dues Program. Implement, manage and review fundraising methods and techniques to achieve yearly goals
•Coordinate and manage the Fund for LSSU grant program
•Based on the plan, monitor and analyze the cost-effectiveness of individual Annual Fund program components
•Create, prepare, monitor and manage direct mail solicitations for annual giving. Develop goals and monitor results for each initiative.
•Coordinate social media and email solicitations and messaging for the LSSU Foundation and Alumni Relations in conjunction with the Development Coordinator
•Coordinate web design and content for the LSSU Foundation and Alumni Relations in conjunction with the Development Coordinator
•Set annual goals and methods of evaluating the Annual Fund and Alumni Membership Dues Program in consultation with the Executive Director – LSSU Foundation and Alumni Relations
•Support the Development Coordinator with hiring, training, supervising and evaluating the student telemarketing team
•Direct the activities of the Laker Club and related projects and events in support of Laker Athletics in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Executive Director – LSSU Foundation and Alumni Relations
•Develop and nurture productive relationships with donors and prospects
•Work closely with the Executive Director – LSSU Foundation and Alumni Relations to identify funding needs and priorities and prepare them for potential development activities
•Coordinate and solicit community support/sponsorship of special events including the Lake State Golf Classic with other LSSU Foundation and Athletic Department staff members
•Other duties as assigned
The responsibilities of this position may require evening and occasional weekend duties including some overnight travel
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in fundraising. Preference given to candidates with higher education or nonprofit annual giving and special events management experience. Experience in a university environment and strong motivation to achieve institutional advancement goals preferred. Experience with Banner system preferred.
Ability to set goals and meet deadlines. Must be goal-focused and results-oriented. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals. Must be team-oriented with ability to work with multiple audiences. Requires detailed record keeping skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Word Press and constituent relations software. Demonstrated ability to work with top level business, civic, and community leaders, and to represent the LSSU Foundation and University in meetings and other public forums. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required. A strong work ethic, reputation for integrity and high ethical standards, as well as an outgoing and positive personality. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Occasional overnight travel may be required
