The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), an NCAA Division I institution and member of Conference USA, is seeking a Director of Athletics Compliance. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. This position will primarily monitor activities in the areas of: 1) recruiting; 2) financial aid; and 3) playing and practice seasons. Duties also include providing rule interpretations, coordinating department use of the compliance functions of JumpForward, providing rules education via various methods, processing various compliance forms, and serving as the primary compliance office liaison to UAB Financial Aid, UAB Housing, and JumpForward. The successful candidate will also adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Law or a related field and five (5) years of related experience. Advanced degree is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external constituents. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing. Candidate must also possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
