Elizabethtown College, a member of NCAA Division III and the Landmark Conference, invites applications for the position of Director of Athletic Communications. The Director of Athletic Communications handles all media relations aspects of Elizabethtown College’s 24 NCAA DIII varsity athletic programs, promoting the teams, student-athletes and coaches through web, social and video media channels.
Job Duties •Produce and manage all content on Elizabethtown College’s athletics website, EtownBlueJays.com; •Supervise Athletic Communications Assistant and train student assistants; •Serve as media coordinator for college-hosted Landmark Conference and NCAA championship events; •Serve as liaison between athletic department and local, regional and national media; •Create original content for Elizabethtown Athletics’ social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); •Direct department’s video streaming initiatives in partnership with Stretch Internet through BlueJaysTV; •Promote and publicize the Blue Jay Athletic Association and its initiatives, including the Student-Athlete Recognition ceremony (STAR), through the athletics website and other means, as appropriate; •Keep statistical record of all athletic events and maintain historical statistics database; •Conduct all athletic communications in accordance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of athletic communications experience. Experience working with various social media platforms. Experience documenting statistical athletic records and maintaining statistical databases. Experience and demonstrated proficiency with computers. Must have ability to work on deadlines and handle several responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision;
This position also requires a valid and unrestricted driver’s license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver’s license for at least three years) and background clearances.
Preferred Qualifications: Athletic communications and athletic event planning experience on the college level. Working knowledge of emerging social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills. As a member of the team in the Office of Marketing and Communications, the individual will manage web content development for Admissions which includes collaboration with other members of the campus community. He/she will ensure that content on the website is timely, relevant, creative, and integrated with other marketing messaging and aligned with the mission of the College. The individual will also manage all official social media outlets for Admissions including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
