Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations
Job Summary: The Graduate Assistant for Sports Communications and Game Operations for shall assist in day-to-day event operations and department communications for all Lincoln Memorial University Division II Athletics programs and facilities. All LMU Graduate Assistants are full-time members of the department staff and will be fully exposed to the daily operations of a Division II Athletics Department in preparation for a future in the business of intercollegiate athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate venue setup and manage game day staff for all home competitions; Assist with game management protocols, procedures, set-up and tear-down for all home events; Communicate with visiting teams and officials; Learn the requirements needed to successfully operate all music, scoreboard, and PA duties at assigned athletic events; Create departmental graphics through the use of Photoshop, InDesign, and/or iMovie; Assist with video creation, editing, and photography; Assist with operating and managing all department social media accounts; Operate statistical programs as required for assigned sporting events; Plan and implement logistical changes or improvements for the athletic department; Collaborate with the LMU Maintenance and Facilities Departments for venue scheduling and event logistics; Interact with fans and other staff members at events with a positive attitude and manner representing LMU Athletics; Other duties as assigned by the athletic administration staff.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Sports Management, Communications, or other related field. Must be highly organized and able to work independently on major projects. Must be successfully admitted into a graduate program of Lincoln Memorial University and maintain satisfactory progress towards chosen degree. The ability to work evenings and weekends with occasional travel will be required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong written and oral communications skills; Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to manage game day staff and communicate with other campus departments and LMU visitors; Ability to lift and move necessary equipment for set up and tear down of facilities; Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, iMovie, and/or statistical programs; familiarity with social media marketing channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
Preferred Experience: Previous athletics experience as a student worker or intern; preferably in Sports Information, Communications, Facilities, or Athletic Administration.
Additional Salary Information: All Lincoln Memorial University Athletic Department Graduate Assistants receive a tuition stipend valid for nine credit hours over four semesters, on-campus housing, and a limited meal plan. Employment is contingent upon proof of admission to the Graduate School and successful completion of assigned duties.
