The Executive Director (ED) serves as the managerial lead of the Club reporting directly to the Executive Board. The ED, with guidance and input from the Executive Board is responsible for developing the Club’s strategic plan and objectives and the operational and tactical plan (includes marketing plan and complimentary advertising campaign) to achieve the defined and approved objectives. The ED is also responsible for executing the Club’s soccer mission, public relations, marketing, outreach, sponsorships, and fundraising.
The ED oversees the daily operations of the Club; is responsible for budgeting and maintaining the overall financial health and solvency of the Club – ensuring performance against the approved financial plan and budget; and in conjunction with the DOC, implement a coaching development plan and assure a commitment to leading and directing staff coaches who coach all teams and players (ages 4-19 year old) and all programs: recreational, travel, premier, and camps/clinics.
The ED has oversight for all aspects of the Club and works in partnership with the DOC/Technical Director regarding on-field activities. This includes coach development, implementation of the training curriculum, and measuring against defined performance and development indicators.
Business executive that has a soccer/sports management background with experience running a non-profit organization and strong soccer knowledge; preferably from running soccer operations for another soccer entity (collegiate, non-profit, business operations for a soccer club etc.) on the business operational side (not solely a Technical Director, technical staff member, or coach)
Minimum 4-years of P&L responsibility
Minimum 8-years of leadership/managerial experience
Minimum USSF National “C” License or equivalent
Experience working with and for a Board of Directors
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Demonstrated ability to work with young people, parents, and community leaders.
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills

Strategic Thinking: Assess options and actions based on trends and conditions in the local or national environments; opportunities presented to partner for program or programming expansion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and meet long and short-term business objectives for the Club that align with the established strategic objectives.
Gather, interpret, and articulate information about community soccer and sports trends to the Board of Directors to facilitate long-term decision making and planning.
Provide leadership in developing programs, organizational, operational, human resources, and financial plans with the Board and executing plans and policies authorized by the Board.
Work in partnership with the 8-member Executive Board to engage membership in volunteering to assist with key strategic initiatives; including Field Development, Marketing, Fundraising, and Community Outreach.
Ensure ongoing program excellence and accountability through rigorous program evaluation.
Ensure consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications and systems.
Provide updates to Executive Board at each of the quarterly board meeting.
Lead, coach, develop, support, manage, direct, and retain technical and coaching staff to ensure successful delivery of programs and execution of HMMS’s mission and vision.
Develop a culture of excellence with the goal to meet the HMMS mission and develop quality programs and recruit new and retain existing staff.
Ensure biannual review of all employees and staff coaches is conducted, communicated, and documented. And, all disciplinary issues are properly documented and remedied.
Ensure legal, employment, and fiscal requirements are met, and all statutory requirements are met to maintain non-profit status.
Manage all contracts and legal agreements, including monitoring vendor relationships and evaluating performance.
Oversee all HMMS coaching staff in conjunction with the DOC.
Serve as spokesperson for HMMS along with DOC.
Assist in the recruitment for and promotion of tournaments.
Work with soccer staff to ensure plans in place to develop players, have competitive teams, and grow membership (per defined and mutually agreed upon targets).
Develop annual budget with input from the Executive Board.
Develop yearly forecasts, monthly and quarterly budget reports, and monthly financial analysis.
Meet annual financial goals in cooperation with the Executive Board.
Develop, monitor, and report key operational metrics and performance indicators.
Represent HMMS as primary contact with community leaders, city organizations, neighboring soccer clubs, and soccer affiliates, and oversight bodies.
Create and deliver Annual Reports to membership and Annual General Meeting.
Manage communication of all soccer-related content with players, coaches, directors, and parents
Program Planning and Execution
In conjunction with the DOC/Technical Director oversee the planning, implementation of all HMMS programs and programming.
Ensure a constant focus on customer satisfaction and prompt issue resolution
Continue to grow and expand incremental programing
Grow camps and clinics and expand training offerings – i.e. establish a technical development academy.
Develop and execute weekly scheduled staff meetings, seasonal coaches’ meetings, and seasonal parent meetings.
Sponsorship, Fundraising and Events
Cultivate and steward relationships with the representatives of the respective townships that make up HMMS, community leaders and local businesses to maintain and grow the donations, grants, and sponsorships of the Club.
Plan and coordinate, with staff and DOC, numerous Club sponsored events (including indoor sessions) to increase HMMS’s community exposure, brand awareness, and revenue.
Partner with the Tournament Director to plan, coordinate, and manage the Club sponsored Fall and Spring tournaments.
Marketing, Branding, and Social Media
Oversee all marketing, communication, and branding strategies while working with the Social Media Manager.
Assist in Promoting the Club regularly through social media forums such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, video channels, targeted Press Releases for all major/significant events.
Work in conjunction with the Executive Board’s designated Marketing Member and/or committee.
Develop a program of public relations, marketing, publicity, promotion to corporate partners, and the community at large.
In addition to requirements in the job description, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate to the Greater Harrisburg Area. Position start date is July 1, 2019.
