South Dakota State University is accepting applications for a Head Equipment Manager. This position will oversee all functions of an effective Division I athletic football equipment room. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing service to the football equipment room as well as the track and field/cross country programs. This includes managing inventory and equipment budgets; supervision of staff; ordering, maintaining, and issuing equipment; care of a locker room; overall day to day operations of an equipment room; and football game day responsibilities.
Earned Bachelor’s degree;
Minimum one year experience with athletics, inventory control, purchasing practices, housekeeping practices/laundry or athletic operations; an equivalent combination of the listed will be considered;
Knowledge of budget management;
Experience with supervising staff;
Ability to lift more than 50 pounds;
Valid driver’s license;
Self-directed and motivated;
Demonstrated commitment to supporting a championship experience for student athletes on and off the playing field/court and exemplify a high standard of integrity;
Effective communication (oral, written, and interpersonal) skills;
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
Demonstrated computer application skills.
Earned Master’s degree;
Experience maintaining university or collegiate equipment room and laundry management (i.e. purchasing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and inventory control);
Football equipment knowledge/experience;
Division I experience;
A basic knowledge of NCAA, MVFC or Conference rules and regulations;
Experience working under an official apparel provider agreement;
Athletic Equipment Managers Association certification;
Knowledge of facility scheduling and event set up and tear down.
