The Director of Athletics provides vision, leadership, and direction for athletics to ensure program effectiveness, continuous improvement, and accountability. The overarching goal is to provide a broad, balanced athletic program that enriches the lives of student athletes, and helps them to develop and maintain fitness of soul, mind and body. The Director of Athletics maintains the integrity of the program, promoting and upholding the principles of sportsmanship and developing moral virtues in our student-athletes. The Director of Athletics will strengthen and build the athletic program, developing relationships with appropriate collegiate conferences, and NCAA Division III. The Director of Athletics reports to the Dean of Students and serves as a member of the student life leadership team.

1.Upholding and promoting the mission of Bryn Athyn College, managing all members of the athletic department, including hiring, supervising, mentoring and evaluating coaches, and overseeing the recruitment of student athletes who can contribute to and benefit from the institution’s mission
2.Developing plans, policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with the College, CSAC Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations that promote the mission of the Athletic Department, the College’s high standard of academic excellence, and the overall student-athlete experience
3.Reviewing and updating job descriptions and salary structures for coaches and other members of the athletic department
4.Preparing an annual operating budget to be submitted to the Dean of Students, and managing athletic operating budgets to sustain healthy operations and activities while adhering to budget parameters
5.Reviewing and developing athletic policies and procedures in consultation with the Dean of Students
6.Reviewing and updating coach and student athlete manuals annually
7.In consultation with Bryn Athyn College stakeholders, developing a strategic vision for the department and evaluating, adjusting, and advancing the long-range athletic plan
8.Providing oversight of departmental compliance with all athletic governing bodies as well as state and federal laws
9.Advancing and executing fundraising, friend raising and promotions and marketing activities in conjunction with the Office of Advancement
10.Scheduling and overseeing all contests, tournaments, and their details
11.In collaboration with the Director of Health and Wellness, ensuring quality healthcare for student athletes using the medical model of sports medicine care
12.Organizing yearly award ceremony including schedule, awards, guests, program and other details
13.Oversight of inventories of uniforms and equipment; purchasing new supplies as needed
14.Maintaining public relations with all groups associated with the Academy and Bryn Athyn College including students, alumni, visitors, official’s chapters, sporting goods salespeople, news media, faculty, dining hall, health services, and maintenance personnel
15.Representing athletics and Bryn Athyn College at league meetings, on the Student Life Committee, and to the President
16.Preparing and submitting an annual report to the Dean of Students
17.Maintaining membership in professional associations, including attendance at CSAC and NCAA conferences, annually
1. Master's degree in athletic administration with five years experience 2. Excellent interpersonal and written communication, public relations, facilities, and budget development/management skills 3. Fiscal management experience 4. Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division III conference rules and commitment to the philosophies of NCAA Division III athletics 5. Ability to interpret and apply NCAA and CSAC conference regulations with integrity 6. Ability to develop athletic programs facilitating NCAA membership for the College 7. Ability to develop strong collaboration within the college and across the local communities in the region 8. Previous experience may include responsibilities in administration, teaching, and coaching
